One poet from the West Midlands, one from elsewhere in the UK, and one from another country. This is Hit the Ode: a unique performance poetry night bringing world-class spoken word artists to the heart of Birmingham.
The second edition will feature: · from Italy, Sergio Garau. From Sardinia via Turin and Berlin, Sergio is a multilingual multimedia performance poet unlike any you have ever seen;· from Wolverhampton, Emma Purshouse. Expect a many-faceted set flitting effortlessly from character to character, from the comic to the tragic, from a fast-paced delivery to a more meditative pace;· from Cambridge, Ross Sutherland. One of the founding members of Aisle 16, named one of the Times Top 10 Literary Stars in 2008, Ross brings poetry of the highest proof to the Victoria’s stage.
And if you want to perform yourself, a (very) few open mic slots will be available - come early to sign up! Featuring the musical stylings of DJ Soesmix Edan.
When: Doors 7pm, start 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 13th
