What's Happening in March

Emma will be performing with Brewers' Troupe at the Hollybush in Cradley Heath.  Performances of SNUG will be happening on 5th March, 6th March and 13th March.

FUNNY WOMEN - Emma Purshouse, Win Saha and Jane Seabourne will perform at Long Knowle Library, Wednesfield on Wednesday 7th March.  The event is free and starts at 6pm.

Emma is running a series of poetry workshops in Stoke on Trent throughout March.

Heather Wastie and Emma Purshouse will be running a Brewers' Troupe Performance Poetry Workshop at the Boars Head in Kidderminster on Tuesday 20th March.  For more information email emmaasif@hotmail.com.

Bilston Voices takes place on March 22nd at Cafe Metro, Church Street, Bilston.  The March line up is Dave Finchett, Jacquie Rowe, David Calcutt, Joel Lane and Jane Seabourne.  The event starts at 7.30 and costs £2 to get in. 

Emma Purshouse and Jane Seabourne will be leading a women's writing workshop on World Book Day which is 23rd March. The event will take place in Wolverhampton 1-3pm.  For more information email emmaasif@hotmail.com.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN NOVEMBER...

Emma will be slamming at the New Inn in Gloucester as part of Brenda Read-Brown's team on 6th November 2011.  3pm onwards.

Brewers' Troupe is running a performance poetry workshop between 7pm and 9.30pm on 15th November at the Boars Head in Kidderminster.  It's £8 to take part.  If you'd like to book a place then email emmaasif@hotmail.com

17th November -  THREE POETS WALK INTO A PUB with Mark Niel, Emma Purshouse and Heather Wastie.  Ye Olde White Harte, Kinver.  7.45 - 10.15.  Open mic slots are available.


Bilston Voices will have a Black Country theme this month.  Brendan Hawthorne, Jill Tromans, Ron Davies, Mike Tinsley and Geoff Stevens will all be strutting their stuff.  Emma Purshouse will MC.  7.30pm at Cafe Metro on 24th November.

What's happening in October?

Recharge Your Batteries. What makes you smile? Makes you feel better? Makes your day? Take time out to come to our FREE poetry reading and writing sessions and find out!

Emma will be leading these free poetry tasters in Stoke on Trent on October 5th and October 19th.  To book a place phone 01782 238455.  The sessions run from 10am - 12.30pm.

It's National Poetry Day on 6th October - Emma will be working with year 10 students at Sandwell Academy.

On 8th October it's the UK All Stars Poetry Slam.  15 poets go head to head at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.

Emma is taking part in a slam in Crewe on 13th October at the Axis Art Centre.

Post Card Poets is happening as part of The Birmingham Book Festival on Friday 14th October 2011.  Emma will be reading at this event.  The event is FREE and takes place at the Library Theatre to book phone the box office on 0121 446 3232.  Check out the fabulous events that are taking place between 6-16 October (not to be missed Tony Harrison 15th October).

Well Versed In Comedy

A fantastic fusion of hilarious poetry and the best new ‘stand-up’.

Well Versed in Comedy is a whole new concept in hilarity.

Hosted by Theo, Worcestershire’s first ever Poet Laureate, it’s a rollercoaster of comedic talent, which will include at least six brand new acts.

It takes the most talented local new comedians and combines their gags and observations with performance poetry from some of the funniest wordsmiths on the circuit.

What's Happening in September

SEPTEMBER 2011.....

If you fancy a giggle then why not come along to FUNNY WOMEN at Ashmore Park Library, Griffiths Drive, Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, WV11 2JW.  SATURDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 2011 from 2.30 - 4.00.  Three Offa's Press Poets entertain.  Expect wry humour, dry humour, wit, laugh out loud moments and the odd groan as Emma Purshouse, Win Saha and Jane Seabourne take to the stage.

SEPTEMBER 22ND - BILSTON VOICES
This month the first half of the evening will be 'Ghost Readers' - the chance for the audience to hear the work of writers who might not want to get up and read their own work.  A selection of volunteer readers will share previously unheard works by the shy, retiring and anonymous! 

In the second half of the evening, Nick Pearson (Offas Press) will be reading from his new collection 'Made in Captivity'.  Nick will be signing copies of his book which will be available to buy after the reading.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN JULY?

Emma is running workshops for Wolverhampton Art Gallery on the 6th and 9th July.


Emma will be appearing at....

Bloxwich Bookmark
20th July.

Emma will be taking part in the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend -  She will be poet 1 in the Great West Midlands Poetry Relay - 23rd July (for more information go to www.writingwestmidlands.org)

July also sees the opening of the 'The Art of Story' Exhibiton at The Public in West Bromwich.  Emma was part of the team working with local school children who have responded in their own way to the work of Allan and Janet Ahlberg.  The exhibition runs from 6th July - 18th Sept (Wed - Sun)


Bilston Voices is on 28th July at Cafe Metro.  It's a 7.30 start.  Featuring, amongst others, Sarah Tamar, Anne Hastings and Heather Wastie.  Emma Purshouse will be your MC for the evening.
